Harris County 80th District Court Granted Trusteeship of the Evergreen Negro Cemetery to Project Respect

It's official! On November 18, 2009, Harris County 80th District Court Granted Trusteeship to Project R.E.S.P.E.C.T. for the Historic Evergreen Negro Cemetery.

The Court Approved Preservation Plan for the Evergreen Negro Cemetery is on file with the State of Texas Historical Commission, Attorney General Office - State of Texas, Harris County Attorney's Office, State of Texas Funeral Service Commission, and the City of Houston Mayor's Office.

A short summary of the Evergreen Negro Cemetery Plan is available here for download. Copies of the actual plan may be obtained from Project RESPECT on CDrom media upon written request. A minimal cost for media production and mailing may apply to your request.
