Location of the Harrisburg-Jackson Cemetery

The Harrisburg-Jackson Cemetery is actually two adjacent cemeteries whose boundries are no longer apparent.

HARRISBURG CEMETERY (aka LODGE LOVING BAND of HOPE CEMETERY)
Black cemetery. 7800 Bowie, Houston, Texas. In use from about 1883 to 1940. Abuts and is indistiguishable from the Jackson Cemetery. PRIOR family plot originally had a wrought iron fence which is now missing. At one time there was a church that occupied a lot that is now
considered a part of the cemetery by the Harris County Appraisal District. The only remnant of the church is a concrete slab.

JACKSON CEMETERY
Black cemetery. 7800 Dahlia. Active about 1900. Abuts and is indistiguishable from the Harrisburg Cemetery. Not-yet-verified information suggests that even though this cemetery is documented as the Jackson Cemetery, the Jackson family did not actually hold the rights to put a cemetery on the property.
