Historic Harrisburg Jackson Cemetery needs attention

We have been asked by the mayor's office top look into the situation at the Harrisburg Cemetery. The cemetery is on Lawndale - about the 8000 block, just past Fennel Street on key map page 535 B

Alyce Coffey has identified 11-12 trees that are either broken in half or totally on the ground. Their existing cemetery contractor is winding down his activity and may not be able to get to this. Project Respect has been asked if we can get some volunteers there and cut those trees into pieces that could later be moved to a dumpster. The City of Houston will provide the dumpster and Maria Bolanos can help get volunteers.

If the Harrisburg Cemetery can wait until Saturday, July 11, 2009 Project Respect will provide a crew of people to get that work done. We can bring a tractor for the movement of the logs to the place where they can be placed in the dumptster. If the general landscaping at the cemetery requires it, we can bring lawn equipment. We await a response from Ms. Coffey.
